Missed Tennis- Knee Injury

My kneecap is bothering me, as it was earlier this spring. The trainer tells me it’s probably just a bruised tendon, and I’ve been a bit too hard on it lately so I need to so some stretching, ice twice a day, and go on the bike instead of running for the rest of the week as it is too much pounding right on the tender area in my leg. I want to be 100% for Boca Raton qualifying so I don’t want to take any chances this week.

I’m going to be going to tennis for the rest of the week, and it’s much easier on my leg than running is so I don’t think there will be a problem. But if I am starting to hurt at all I’m going to have to stay off of it at least until next week. I really hope I recover by next week because I don’t want this to be on my mind during a tournament, it’s very distracting.

Doubles Quarterfinals

I don’t know what got into Fernando’s head but he wasn’t playing very well and he told me he wasn’t feeling very well either. Unfortunately it cost us the match because we lost pretty easily, 8-1. The two kids we played had solid volleys but besides that they were very beatable and all we really neede to do was be consistent and aggressive at the right times.

Quite a bummer, there were definitely other teams there that we could beat and I’m pretty sure we would’ve won our next round. I think I’m going to practice with Fernando more often because I want to play doubles with him in the future. We play well together and although right now we both have problems with our doubles games, we can certainly get better and beat a lot of teams of plyaers who may be beating us in singles matches. So, hopefully things go better with us in the future, we may play doubles in Boca Raton if we both make main draw.

Doubles Grand Prix

Well long story short me and Fernando won our two matches today. The first was against a girls’ team, and they weren’t that great. It was kind of a warm-up for our next match, we won 8-0 pretty quickly but we had to play Joseph Cohen and Alfredo Rodriguez next. They were playing solid and I was a little off at the start. They were up 3-1 at one point but we broke back and ended up breaking again to take the lead 7-6. We ended up losing the next game unfortunately and had to go to a tiebreak. We got off to a very good start, winning the first three points but they came up big and won the next three. We always had the edge just a little bit and they were always playing catchup. We got to 6-5 up on Alfredo’s serve, me returning. It was probably one of the only good points I had the whole match, I smacked a ball back to him and hit a winner down the middle to end the match. We play tomorrow at 6… It’s not really great because I have to get caught up on some homework but I have this doubles tournament to play. Oh well.

Wal-Mart

Well I’ve got to pick up some things at Wal-Mart today. More towels, some gatorade, some PowerBar regeneration shakes. These are for after practice, I saw a few recommendations online for them and they are supposed to heal your muscles faster. For instance if you are cramping after practice, these help you recover more quickly. I need to get some more school supplies as I’m running low on stuff like pens and paper, but the rest of what I will buy will most likely just be snacks/drinks for evenings in the dorm.

Missed brunch today so I’ll probably grab a sandwich at Wal-Mart, I don’t really want to eat dinner here tonight because Sundays are a notoriously bad day to eat in the cafeteria. Other than that I just have some homework to finish up on and I’m probably just going to relax for the rest of the evening. Most of my roommates are coming back today so it won’t be so quiet in here.

Boring Day

Got a lot of work done today, but nobody is here in my dorm so I’m pretty bored. Everyone went home for the weekend and the golfers went to a tournament. I am hoping there is someone who I can hit with tomorrow with my new demos, I want to try them out before practice on Monday.

Not much else new has gone on but I have a lot going on in the upcoming weekends, including the Boca Raton tournament qualifying, and the SAT next weekend. I think the next month or so is going to be pretty hectic but a lot of fun things are happening so I am looking forward to most of it. Once I get all caught up in my schoolwork I won’t have to worry so much about everything because I will have a bit more time to concentrate on tennis, and other important things like the SAT.

Post for the 26th

Friday was the first day of the doubles tournament. Fernando and I won all our  matches easily except against these two russian coaches. One of them is a former pro, and he still plays some professional tournaments. We lost 8-4 but gave them a good fight and really challenged a lot of their tough shots. I didn’t know some of the coaches were going to play but now I know that there are three teams of just coaches. This makes the tournaments a hundred times more difficult but we will definitely get some good matches so I am looking forward to playing our next match on Monday. I think that Monday begins the Single Elimination bracket; today was just round-robin and we easily advanced. I’ve got a good amount of homework this weekend to catch up on but I will definitely hit this weekend as my new demo’s arrived and I am excited to try out some new rackets. If I decide to go with a Dunlop racket I most likely will get at least a partial sponsorship, but I don’t want that to sway my decision, because if I like a different racket better then I will definitely go with it.

Tired.. Going to Sleep!

Long day. I’m just about ready to collapse, I need some rest for the doubles Grand Prix tomorrow. I did a lot of studying today, went in to American Film and got a few assignments turned in, finished my American History test at lunch, and went in for a couple HOURS from about 7 to 9 to get help in Precalculus. It was really boring but I just grinded through it. It feels good that I know most of the information for Precalculus now, I learned alot tonight. But I want to play well tomorrow so I’m not going to stay up much longer even though we don’t have school tomorrow. I’m so happy about this I really needed a day off. After tennis I am going to take a long nap and then go hit with my roommate later in the evening. Well, I’m off to bed, GOOD NIGHT.

Renovation

My roommates and I moved things around in our room and it looks awesome. We are going to buy some things and maybe even a TV if we are allowed to. I did a little homework before we started but I got caught up in the moment and before I know it it’s like 10:30. I’ve got to do some American Film homework so I better get started on that. I’m going in tomorrow before school to finish my American History test that I started today. For some reason my internet browser froze or something and messed up the Quia test. Hopefully the questions I had already completed are saved and I only have to do 20 or 25 more questions tomorrow. I know what I’m doing so I should be able to get a pretty good grade on this, the questions so far have been fairly easy, I just hope I don’t mess up the chronological questions because if you get one wrong it may mess up the whole sequence of seven or eight answers.

October 23rd

Our dorm has evolved a little bit, Sam Koonce used to be on campus but he’s been staying at someones condo more and more, and I’ve heard that he is going to be staying off-campus for good pretty soon. Jefferson Nivarez who’s in my room, along with another tennis player who does online school, may end up leaving this week. He’s spanish and although he does speak english, he just wants to be with other spanish kids that he can relate to more.

I’ve been going to bed later now but it’s making me pretty tired after practice so I am gonna try to get to bed a bit earlier for the rest of the week at least. I usually have an energry drink before school but I’m still tired sometimes if I don’t get that much sleep. So I guess it’s time for me to head to bed right now, I did a decent amount of Pre-Calculus makeup today so I’m going to just relax for a little while before crashing.

October 22nd

Well I really have no idea what I did in these five days so I am going to just talk about upcoming events, some of my thoughts and plans, and how things are going so far.

I’m really still trying to catch up. It’s been two days and now I have talked to all of my teachers about what work I need to do, so I’ve got everything planned out as to what dates I have to have everything done by. This weekend is going to be another long one but after that I’m really going to have it a little easier.

I’m not playing any tournaments this weekend; the only one I would really play is a local that I won last year. But next weekend is Boca Raton Quali’s, so that is really the tournament I am preparing for. I need to work on some things but I’m pretty sure I will be ready.
